i showed the video from the midweek meeting of september 12th to my counselor to get her take on it.

she said that it clearly was a propaganda video and was appalled that it was shown to an audience that had small children in it.

she said that they could have been way more generic in their way of portraying the women as having been abused.. the subject of sexual abuse and the way the video zeroed in on it would have small children asking questions that really did not need to be addressed.

Yes it there was a thread about it. You can watch the video yourself if you want to by going to the JWorg web sight and viewing the meeting part for the week starting the 12 of this month. I am not good at linking it to my post I know some do but I do not know how to do that.

The video made me so depressed as it is not in the least what I expreanced in the hall I went to. We had 3 child molesters in the hall and the CO at the time told me I had no chose but to work with them DTD as my husband was an elder.

I have thrown a fit over it and I brought it up and up and up and out of the blue after 8 years of not attending meeting an elder called up mad at me. Well anyway long story short I met just a couple of weeks ago with the current CO and he told me I never ever, ever had to work with the child molesters and all I had to do was to tell the CO I am nothing but a volunteer.

Really good to know expect nothing is in print expect that you must obey the elders no matter what, so when an elder demands you take a child molester DTD if you are even lucky to know that they are a pedophile and then he yells at you for not obeying him are you seriously supposed to tell the elder hey I am just a volunteer.

It would have been OK for an adult only audience and even at that why were they making such a point in a meeting that in all honestly is supposed to be about helping it's members be better at field service.

She said it just made no sense but that it was propaganda to make it look like they have it all under control and that they are indeed helping victims, which is clearly not the case as I am going to her for my trauma of being abused.

Just thought that was an interesting take from someone outside the JW world.

Easier to be a JW now?

reading konceptual's account of talking to cart 'witnesses' and it reminded me that when we left in '89 we thought the religion would do one of two things.

get more hardline, consequently lose members and eventually come to an end in some way.

or ease up on the members, fewer rules, less fs time, less meetings, just to keep them in.. all the recent apostate stuff, treatment of dfed kids and the hardline attitude to people who leave or try to fade has confused me, made me think they are harder on the r+f., but i don't think this is true.

As far as the meetings themselves it is easier but the threat of being DF'ed I feel is greater and that there is way more judgment going on between the ones left in plus there are a ton of those who are on medication for depression.

Through I have not read the others comments so this just just my two cents worth.

Do not enjoy life now!

ok so i was stupid and looked at the text for today, i do not know why i did it.

i lost a couple of brain cells and put myself into an even deeper depression over it.

it was just that my husband had it out and i thought what can it hurt, wondering what they are up to.

OK so I was stupid and looked at the text for today, I do not know why I did it. I lost a couple of brain cells and put myself into an even deeper depression over it. It was just that my husband had it out and I thought what can it hurt, wondering what they are up to. It was crazy moment of insanity that I have lived to regret today.

They are still drilling into everyone so not enjoy life, here is the part that got to me so much

("How we cherish our privilege of working with our God in these last days! Thus, we should be willing to postpone the pursuit of many of our personal interests, knowing that in his new world, Jehovah will allow us to enjoy “the real life”—everlasting life in happy, peaceful conditions.")

I have just been supper depressed after seeing that, seriously they are still doing it, telling everyone not to enjoy life. I listened and obeyed and they stole my life, I get it that I let them but they used this same line when I was a young person and they are still going at it. It just makes me so sick.

Note to self never, never, never read the text again.

When you were fully in, did you believe that you would not die?

i know that it must seem silly to ask, but my brother and his family think that the big a will arrive before they die.

i tried to explain to my brother that everyone else who has ever lived in the past has died and only jesus has [physically] rose from the dead.. it is amazing that anyone could buy that line.

what crazy cult culture that could make people believe such nonsense?!.

Magmun when you said these words it really hit home for me The irony is that I looked at some of my non-JW peers who were living life to the full, and I thought they were getting just a few years, whereas, I would have eternity. It turns out, though, that not only will I not have eternity, but I was robbed of even the few years that my peers had.

All day I have been thinking of what a waste my life has been, I do not know why but sometimes I get into a real funk and just can't get out of it. I hated doing what I did as JW, I hated pioneering so much but did it because that is what was drilled into me and I thought something was wrong with me for hating it so much.

I look back realized I threw my life away and it just hurts sometimes.

Yes, I was a born in and like stephane it was drilled into me that I would never die and I totally believed it as it was fed to me from birth on.

just a side note that i found interesting and sort of upsetting, the wt that the jw's will study on sunday the 18th of september has the words undeserved kindness mentioned 50 in just 19 paragraphs.

really they need to beat it into their people that they are very worthless and do no deserve anything from god?

so much so that they use the words over and over, don't they.. lits .

I know Data-Dog, in one of the first paragraph's they even have the audacity to say that a lot of Bible translations use the word Grace yet they keep right on using undeserved kindness, it just makes my blood boil.

Just a side note that I found interesting and sort of upsetting, the WT that the JW's will study on Sunday the 18th of September has the words undeserved kindness mentioned 50 in just 19 paragraphs. Really they need to beat it into their people that they are very worthless and do no deserve anything from God? so much so that they use the words over and over, don't they.

Does it not dawn on the cart witnesses?

i sat in town recently, right in the window of a nice wee pub.

within minutes i realised that i had a perfect view of a jw cart and the two ridiculously dressed jw's (they have absolutely no individuality at all.

what's more, they all look like they're going to a funeral).

Island man that is what I was told that even though we were driving aimlessly the Angles were watching and they knew we were at least trying? It made no sense to me than and still doesn't. If there are Angles they would have thought we were crazy.

When I pioneered it was the same thing, we lived in the country so it was all just driving and driving and driving, aimlessly, it just drove me crazy and yet everyone else loved it. I just could not understand it. We would pile into our Honda civic sometimes we would get seven in it, that in of itself was totally crazy, make a call in town and then drive 150 miles to a call, than turn around and drive 100 miles the other way and make a call, than go back 50 miles to another call and then go back 100 miles to where we were at the first call and than go back into town and make a call. We would spend sometimes 10 hours doing this and I would be ~~lucky~~ fortunate if I got out once during the day. There was no place to use the bathroom unless you were willing to pee behind some bushes, which I just cannot do no matter how much I have to pee, so I would be sitting in the car so uncomfortable having to pee so badly and than everyone would bring out their lunch and the smell of body sweat and food would make me so nauseous that there was no way I could eat, or else sometimes we would drive back into town so those who refused to use their cars and refused to give money for gas and thus had money would go out to eat and since all of our money went to car gas to drive around aimlessly I would just get coffee while I watched all of the other suck down their food and then pile back into our car and carry on the craziness.

As I see it I would have loved cart witnessing over what I went through and maybe that's how they see it at least they are not wasting their money on car gas.
